Picnic-Style Summertime Wreath

When I saw some picnic-pattern woven placemats at Dollar General, I just had to come up with a project to use them! It just so happens I needed to refresh my side door with a spring/summer wreath…

I cut the 2 mats into several strips about 2” wide each.
I wrapped them around a 12” wreath form I had on hand, using floral picks and hot glue to secure the ends of each strip.
Once the wreath form was covered, I use tshirt strips (cut from a Goodwill bag of rags) and white canvas ribbons to fashions a casual and perky fabric accent.wreath 003It’s on the side door now and I love it! I like to use hot pinks, purples, red-pinks, etc. for my planter flowers in spring/summer, so this wreath extends that color theme to the doorway.
Cheap, easy and fun – may fave kind of craft! Linking up to the sidebar gals.

Ok, talk about the perfect summer wreath. It makes me want to go on a picnic. I love finding good use for dollar store stuff!

If you have any left over, maybe you could make some matching pillows.
